Protecting The Niagara Escarpment -
The Success Story of the Niagara Escarpment Plan

Protecting the Niagara Escarpment How well has the provinceís Niagara Escarpment program fulfilled its objectives over the past 30 years? To begin to answer this question, the Niagara Escarpment Foundation, in partnership with the Coalition on the Niagara Escarpment, commissioned five studies to examine the on-the-ground impact of the Niagara Escarpment Plan in five key areas: the preservation of natural shorelines; the protection of farmland; the protection of forests and ecological corridors; the curbing of urban sprawl; and the enhancement of property values.

The book describes the land use planning controls in place to protect the Escarpment and tells how landowners and citizens can get involved in its preservation.

"The Coalition on the Niagara Escarpment has produced a positive and practical handbook that will be invaluable for anyone who wants to help make sure the natural wonders of the Escarpment are saved for future generations to enjoy." --- Robert Bateman
