World Biosphere Reserve
Road Signs
| The signs read "Welcome to the Niagara Escarpment
- a World Biosphere Reserve." They will pique the interest
of passersby and inform them of the significance of the area
that they are entering.
The Niagara Escarpment needs to be better identified "on
the ground" in the Escarpment countryside ... and CONE is
doing something about it!
CONE's Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere road sign project
involves placing a series of signs on county and regional
roads where they enter the Niagara Escarpment Plan Area.

ADOPT-A-SIGN!
Just $85 per year
|
The signage project has two objectives:
- inform the public about the special nature of this unique
part of Ontario and highlight the importance of the UNESCO World
Biosphere Reserve designation
- build support among residents of the Niagara Escarpment Plan
Area for the protection of the Escarpment.
CONE is now seeking groups and individuals who would like to sponsor
signs to cover the costs of maintenance and eventual replacement.
You can adopt-a-sign for $85 per year. Help us keep this
project going!
To complement the road signs, CONE has produced a brochure outlining
the significance of the Escarpment and describing its status as
an internationally recognized ecosystem. The brochures are available
free stores, gas stations, restaurants, and other sites near the
signs across Dufferin County and the Region of Peel.
